It was reformed and enlarged in 1924 and 1930. In the early 1930's, the U.S. writer Ernest Hemmingway stayed at the hotel, where he wrote "Fishing Chronicles" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls". About the hotel he said: "...it was a good place to write..." The room where Hemingway always stayed was turned into a small museum on the writer's life.
