Teacher-Training School of Oriente (Eastern part of Cuba)
Monuments
Address
. Santiago de Cuba
Description
In 1899, during the intervention of the American government, it was decided to build this school for the teachers who lived in the east of Cuba. Such construction was financially backed by the citizens of the state of Massachusetts, and the main designer was W, M. Black, from the engineers pool of the United States. The pilot school of Santiago de Cuba was opened in 1902, and then, on October 10, 1916, it became the Teacher-Training School of Oriente, which was an institution that would influence the patriotic, moral and cultural training of dozens of young teachers.
