Blue Circuit: Beaches Near the Cuban Capital

The Cuban capital, which has a population of more than two million, is one of the strongholds for tourism in the Caribbean Island, due to its nearly-five-century history.

A large infrastructure of hotels and services, totaling more than 10,000 rooms, is one of the main attractions of the Cuban capital, where nearly all tourism modalities are available, including business trips, cultural tourism, incentives and meetings.

The former village of San Cristóbal de La Habana, also known as the Antemural City of the West Indies and the Key to the New World, offers a wide range of options ranging from cultural activities to the traditional sun and beach option.

The latter can be found in the so-called Blue Circuit, which consist of more than 15 kilometers of beaches, where the most popular is Santa María del Mar.

Other popular beaches in the Blue Circuit are Bacuranao, El Mégano, Boca Ciega and Guanabo, which are true complements to tourist programs enjoyed by the thousands of vacationers who visit Havana every year.

Nearby Jibacoa attracts vacationers who love to enjoy the peculiar natural setting, where the beach is surrounded by 100-meter-high hills that run parallel to the seashore, providing a pleasant sensation of privacy.

Sun, beaches and excellent facilities are complemented by nautical sports and recreational activities, backed up by a hotel infrastructure that can meet the needs of the most demanding foreign vacationers.

The sand strip runs to the edge of the insular platform, which is populated by large colonies of corals and marine species, turning the area into an ideal place for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Generally, the beaches of the Blue Circuit also offer nightclubs, restaurants, bars and a wide range of services that give tourists the chance to learn about the capital of all Cubans.

In addition, the Marina Puertosol Tarará is a point of meeting for those who love nautical activities, providing round-the-clock services to boats, restaurants, excursions and hotels.

The Marina Puertosol Tarará organizes the international marlin fishing tournaments known as "The Old Man and the Sea" and "La Hispanidad", and offers a wide range of services at the Caribbean Dive Center, including diving excursions to caves and coral reefs.

Among the most demanded hotels in the Blue Circuit is Tropicoco, which is a few meters from the beach and provides an attractive Caribbean environment, including interior and outdoor gardens.

That way, tourism programs in the Cuban capital are a refreshing pause east of Havana, where the beautiful beaches of the Blue Circuits are just a few kilometers away.
