Room for Gastronomy in Cuba's Tourist Industry
Monday, September 12, 2005

Havana.- Cuba's tourist industry, the fastest-growing sector in the Island's economy, has developed gastronomic options to meet the needs of foreign vacationers.

Based on that, the Meliá Cohíba Hotel organizes the so-called gastronomic festivals, which are aimed at promoting the most popular dishes from several countries.

One of those festivals, scheduled for this month, will be dedicated to Mexican cuisine. On this occasion, Chef Vicente Manrique, from the Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma Hotel, will travel to Cuba.

The Gourmet El Abanico Restaurant is ready to welcome all lovers of Mexican cuisine. Other activities will be held at La Brasa BBQ, by the swimming pool.

The festival also includes a special closing banquet that will be attended by Mexican diplomats and businesspeople accredited in Cuba and representatives from international media organizations.
