Experts Weigh Restoration of Major Cuban Museum
Monday, September 12, 2005

Havana.- Experts from Cuba and the United States are weighing a project to restore the Ernest Hemingway Home-Museum, in the Cuban capital.

Finca Vigía, where the museum is located, was bought by the US novelist on December 28, 1940, and donated by his widow to the Cuban State in 1961.

On this occasion, the US experts made an in situ analysis of the evolution of the works to preserve that major Cuban cultural heritage.

The US group was made up of four architects from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Hemingway Preservation Foundation.

The mission also included the architect Patricia O'Donnel and the engineer Michael Henry, who participated as special advisors.

In addition to several partial maintenance projects, this is the third capital restoration work on the building where Ernest Hemingway lived from 1939 to 1961.
