Cuban Cyclist Focuses on London Olympic Games
Monday, April 23, 2012

Havana.- The Cuban cyclist Lisandra Guerra, one of the main cyclists in the country, is training for the Olympic Games in London.

The Cuban athlete won her qualification in the sprint races and keirin at the Track Cycling World Championship in Melbourne.

Scholarship holder at the World Center of the Union Cycliste Internationale, in the Swiss city of Aigle, Guerra is training full time for the Olympic event.

The Cuban cyclist has won three medals at world championships in the 500-meter time trial race (bronze, silver and gold in that order since 2006 through 2008), although this category was not included in the London Olympic events.

Cuban trainers said that Marlies Mejías and Yumari González may have the opportunity to be included in the Cuban cycling team for the Olympic Games.
