Havana.- The beach resort of Varadero, the main tourist destination to enjoy the sun and the sea in the island, benefits from the execution of important investments in tourist expansion.
According to specialists, works are currently concentrating on the Marina Gaviota, the Patriarca hotel and the expansion of Princesa del Mar (Sea Princess), all located in the reserved area at the Hicacos peninsula.
Progress is being made in the third stage of the first facility and includes a swimming pool, an area for technical services, a 420-room hotel and a mooring for 1,200 boats.
The swimming pool overhaul at the Barceló Solymar hotel and the restoration process of the hotels Villa Cuba and Aguas Azules are also foreseen to be concluded.
In addition, minor repairs are scheduled in two dozen facilities as soon as tourist flow is at its lowest rate.
