Havana.- Cuban track and field team will compete at five tournaments scheduled in different Brazilian stadiums as part of the preparation for the Olympic Games in London.
The Cuban team will include 24 athletes who will compete in eight of the events programmed by organizers.
In this sense, it is important to point out the participation of six triple jump athletes, among them the medal winners at world championships Mabel Gay, Yoandri Betanzos and Alexis Copello; also included are Josleidy Ribalta, Dainelis Alcántara and Osviel Hernández.
Likewise, the Cuban delegation includes Yarelis Barrios, two-time winner of the Diamond League in discus, together with Denia Caballero and Jorge Fernández; while Yipsi Moreno will compete in women’s hammer throw.
Other athletes included are Misleydis González, Maylín Vargas and Carlos Veliz in shot put; the javelin throwers Yanelis Ribiaux and Janet Cruz; as well as Yarisley Silva and Daylis Caballero in pole vault.
