Havana.- Cuban beach volleyball team performed remarkably in the NORCECA circuit, winning two medals in the 5th phase of the event.
The men’s team, composed of Karel Peña and Sergio González, finished in the 2nd position after losing the final game against the Mexican players Juan Virgen and Lombardo Ontiveros in two sets (21-15; 21-19).
Puerto Rico won the bronze medal game against the U.S. team thanks to the performance of Roberto Rodríguez and Erick Haddok who defeated David Smith and Skylar DelSol in two sets (21-10; 21-0).
Meanwhile, the Cuban women’s team, composed of Nirian Sinal and Ion Canet, finished 3rd after losing the semifinal game 2-1 (17-21; 21-12; 15-11) against the Mexican players Martha Revuelta and Vanessa Virgen.
The circuit’s 6th phase will be held from June 8 to 10, on the sand court next to the Club Kawama hotel, in Varadero, and a dozen countries have confirmed their participation.
