Havana.- The Cuban health system promotes changes to improve health care efficiency in the country, together with saving resources without affecting services.
In the eastern province of Holguín the reorganization and regionalization have benefited service quality as well as people’s satisfaction.
These changes have allowed the recuperation of the family doctor and nurse method, implemented in Cuba in the 1980’s.
Among the improvements, the primary health care stands out showing positive results in the reduction of the general mortality rate during this year, if compared to the same period in 2011.
In this sense, a reduction of deaths by heart diseases, cerebral-vascular accidents, malignant tumors, influenza and pneumonia, among other diseases, can be observed.
