Havana.- The Cuban Grand Master Leinier Domínguez, national chess champion, will play at the Bien chess tournament in Switzerland, scheduled for late July.
The tournament, classified by the International Chess Federation as Category 20, includes six Grand Masters (GM) and Domínguez is ranked 4th in the prequalification with an Elo score of 2,725 points.
The U.S. player Hikaru Nakamura (2,775), number seven in the world ranking list, leads the prequalification, followed by the Russian Alexander Morozevich (2,769) and Hao Wang (2,738), from China.
The other Grand Masters included are Etiene Bracot (2,695), from France; and Anish Giri (2,693), from Netherlands.
For Domínguez, the Bien tournament will be his last before the World Chess Olympiad, scheduled for late August in Istanbul, where he will be leading the Cuban team on the top board.
