Havana.- The Cuban baseball team won the gold medal at the latest Haarlem International Baseball Tournament, in Netherlands; thus regaining the gold medal a Cuban team had won in 1998.
Cuba won the final game against Puerto Rico, scoring four runs against two, with a relevant performance by the left-handed pitcher Norberto González.
For González, the final game was his second victory in the tournament and his 7th consecutive game without allowing a run.
Puerto Rico lost the final game after finishing unbeaten in the preliminary phase of the tournament and defeating Netherlands 1-0 in the semifinal game.
Cuba won the return game against Puerto Rico, since the Cuban team had lost in the preliminaries, and now accumulates four titles after winning the Haarlem tournament in 1974, 1996 and 1998.
