Havana.- Cuba performed remarkably in the London Olympic Games, where the island held the 1st position in the list of Latin American countries, which participated in the event.
The Cuban delegation finished with 15 medals: 5 gold medals, three silver medals and six bronze ones, thus holding the 16th position in the general medal table.
Boxing contributed two Olympic titles thanks to Robeisis Ramírez and Roniel Iglesias, while in Greco-roman wrestling Mijaín López won the gold medal, in the 120-kilogram division.
Idalis Ortiz in judo (+ 78 kilograms) and Leuris Pupo, in rapid-fire pistol, also won the gold medal.
Other sports which contributed medals were freestyle wrestling, track and field, tae kwon do and weightlifting, thus winning a position above Jamaica (4-4-4) and Brazil (3-5-9).
