Havana.- The province of Mayabeque, in the western area of the country, held the Olympic Ideal half marathon, a 21-kilometer race which started in San José de las Lajas.
Richard Pérez, representing Havana, was the winner among men, with a record of one hour, eight minutes and five seconds.
Meanwhile, among women, Yailen García, from Matanzas, won the competition with a time of one hour, 22 minutes and 12 seconds.
The men’s second position was won by Jorge Luis Suárez (1:09:36), followed by Armelis Issac Pichardo (1:14:37).
Likewise, the women’s second place was for Ismary Montelongo (1:34:42), followed by Aquira Caballeros (1:38:37).
The event was included among the activities organized to celebrate the foundation of the Cuban Olympic Committee, and to promote sports practice.
