Cuba Strengthens Anti-Vectorial Program
Monday, April 14, 2014

Havana.- The Cuban health care system strengthens the alert mechanisms of the anti-vectorial program in order to prevent vector-transmitted diseases.

The strategy is permanently focused on houses, locations and waste lands across the country, as well as in health care and educational institutions and tourist facilities.

Actions are aimed at preventing, by means of specialized personnel, the formation of reproduction sources and the destructions of those which are found.

One of the specific cases is the Aedes Aegypti mosquito which transmits diseases like dengue, hence the importance of keeping systematic inspections.

These vector-transmitted diseases such as malaria, dengue, Chagas´ disease and leismaniasis represent a huge load for the health care systems in the Americas,.
