Valuable Archeological Pieces in Cuban Museum
Monday, April 14, 2014

Havana.- The museum at the Castillo de la Real Fuerza, in Havana, holds this month a exhibition of valuable archeological pieces which were found in several researches carried out in Havana.

The pieces were located in the old convent of Saint Teresa of Jesus, founded in 1702 where the sisters of the Order of Discalced Carmelites lived.

The exhibition shows pieces from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, including English dish sets, coins, shoe buckles and other elements which belonged to the nuns´ furniture and fittings.

Likewise, the public will have the opportunity to see prayer medals, missal clasps and hinges, crosses and crucifixes and a bowl for holy water made of limestone.

The archeological researches started in 2005 and ten sectors have been worked on so far, which is 70 percent of the available areas.
