Cuba Takes Actions to Retread Tires
Monday, July 28, 2014

Havana.- Cuba's industry is working on increasing its capacity to retread tires, in order to meet the growing domestic demand and reduce imports.

In Camagüey, the retreading plant fulfilled the plan, set at 10,247 tires, at 115 percent during the first semester of 2014.

The goal is to receive tires with the minimum conditions to be retreaded and used again.

The plant retreads tires for motorcycles, light vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment and those used in agriculture, among others.

According to experts, Cuba saves one million dollars by concept of imports per every 6,700 retreaded tires.
