New Investments in Cuba's Sugarcane Sector
Monday, September 15, 2014

Havana.- Cuba's economy is promoting investments in the sugarcane sector to increase production of byproducts.

Efforts are aimed at increasing sugar production, in addition to alcohol, energy and animal feed, among other byproducts.

The strategy includes the modernization of distilleries, construction of new plants to produce animal feed and facilities to obtain byproducts.

Over the past few years, more than 100 Brazilian-made sugarcane harvesters have been introduced, as well as trucks and wagons to reduce the flattening of the soil.

Moreover, plans also include increasing the milling capacity, improving the sugar storehouses, and building and restoring molasses tanks.
