Cutting-edge Technology for Hemodialysis in Eastern Cuba |

Havana.- Medical services in the eastern Cuban province of Ciego de Avila are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to guarantee hemodialysis treatments.
According to experts, 100 patients have access periodically to that kind of treatment, which allows them to eliminate toxic substances from their body due to kidney failure.
In order to achieve that goal, modern German-made water-treating plants, each of which can supply 20 hemodialysis machines, were installed in two local hospitals.
Several patients are waiting for a transplant and some of them have been waiting for a kidney for nearly 11 years, during which they have received hemodialysis treatment.
Chronic kidney failure is a major health problem and an international challenge due to its complexity, frequency and increase.
