Cuba Promotes Tourism Growth
Monday, September 15, 2014

Havana.- Cuban authorities are promoting the execution of mid- and long-term investment programs to enlarge the tourism sector's infrastructure.

According to tourism authorities, Cuba will have some 85,000 hotel rooms by 2020, in addition to guaranteeing the maintenance of the existing establishments.

At present, the country has 61,200 rooms, 66.5 of which are located in four-and five-star hotels.

In addition, tourist arrivals are guaranteed at ten international airports where three dozen airlines from 51 countries operate.

From January to June 2014, Cuba reported tourist revenues of 1.315 billion convertible pesos, accounting for an inter-annual increase of 11.6 percent.
