Monday, October 20, 2014

Havana, Grand Master Isam Ortiz, who is one of Cuba's best chess players, will compete in the Pan-American Championship in Brazil.

Ortiz, who has an Elo score of 2,611 points, will try to win one of four slots granted in the event for the World Championship in 2015.

Ortiz will have to work hard, considering the participation of high-level players regarding the average Elo score and their game quality.

It is worth mentioning that Ortiz won the silver medal in the fourth board at the World Olympics in Tromso, Norway, and was Cuba's National Champion in 2013 and 2014.

Regarding his aspirations, Ortiz noted that he will always confront his rivals with the objective of winning movement after movement and giving a good performance that can translate into attractive games.
