Increased Corn Production in Eastern Cuba
Monday, October 20, 2014

Havana.- Eastern Santiago de Cuba province has reported an increase in dry corn production to guarantee supplies of animal feed.

Since January, the province produced 16,000 tons of dry corn, which is used to make animal feed. Authorities estimate that this year production will total 17,200 tons.

The increase in production responds, among other factors, to a rise in the state purchasing price, more crops and technological improvements.

According to experts, this year, the quality of kernels is better in terms of purity and humidity.

It is worth mentioning that one ton of dry corn for animals costs about 3,500 dollars on the international market, thus the importance of increasing production.
