New Forms of Management in Cuba's Economy
Monday, October 27, 2014

Havana.- Cuba's economy is promoting the creation of new forms of management, as part of actions to boost private work.

According to experts, 314 of 500 authorized cooperatives are active in non-agricultural sectors throughout the country.

Western Cuba is the most active region regarding the number of cooperatives, with 166 in Havana, 44 in Artemisa, 20 in Matanzas, 15 in Mayabeque and 11 in Pinar del Río.

Those cooperatives are organizations with economic and social ends that are established voluntarily on the basis of their members' assets and rights.

They support themselves with the work of their members, whose general objective is to produce goods and provide services through collective management.
