Cuba to Seek Leadership at Central American and Caribbean Games
Monday, November 24, 2014

Havana.- Cuba will seek the leadership at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, where the host athletes will be tough rivals.

According to official statistics, in the 2010 Games in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, the Mexican delegation finished first, due to Cuba's absence from that event.

Due to the lack of strong competitors in such sports as swimming, skating, and artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, the Cuban delegation will make emphasis in traditional sports in the Caribbean island, including boxing, judo (men's and women's) and freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, as well as track and field.

In team sports, women's basketball, men's volleyball and baseball are Cuba's favorites, in addition to cycling, tae kwon do and weightlifting.
