Cuban Modern Pentathletes to Compete for Medals in Veracruz
Monday, November 24, 2014

Havana.- Cuba's best modern pentathletes are completing their training to compete in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico.

In their only participation at that level, the Cuban pentathletes won four silver medals in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, in 2006.

Now, they expect to win gold medals in the mixed and men's relay, as well as in the individual contest for men.

Cuban sport officials said that José Ricardo Figueroa, Yaniel Velázquez and Lester Ders are the favorite athletes among men, while Leydi Laura Moya, Eliani Cámara and Iliannis Manzano and the favorites among women.

It is worth mentioning that Moya won the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010 and the Pan-American and Central American Championship two years ago.
