|
|
Monday, December 15, 2014
Havana.- Cuba's best Paralympic athletes are training hard for the continental games in that modality, scheduled for next year in Toronto, Canada.
A recent participation in the athletic tournament in Mexico showed that the Cuban athletes have possibilities to qualify for the Pan-American Games in 2015.
In that competition, Yaumara Milán and Gerdan Fonseca excelled in track and field, in which Milán threw the javelin at 32.63 meters, the sixth best throw in the season for F12 athletes (severe visual disability).
For his part, Fonseca registered 50.44 meters in the shot-put and finished sixth in the F44 ranking (lower limb amputees).
A Paralympic bronze medalist in Athens-2004 and Bejing-2008, Fonseca proved that he is in condition to win a medal for the Cuban delegation.
