Cuba Promotes Diversified Uses of Zeolite |

Havana.- Cuba is promoting diversified uses of zeolite, a mineral that has an export market of nearly one billion dollars a year.
In Cuba, products and technologies based on the modification of natural zeolite have been developed from a lab scale to an industrial level.
Some of those products are purified natural zeolite NZ, a procedure that transforms the mineral for medical and pharmaceutical uses, and anti-microbial ZZ, which is used in domestic water purification systems.
Other products are Neutacid, which are antacid chewable tablets, and FZ, which reduces sugar levels in blood after meals.
In addition, there is an acid catalyst to dehydrate ethanol and produce ethylene that is used in the biofuel industry.
