Effectiveness of Cuban-made Vaccine Candidate Tested |

Havana.- Cuban specialized institutions validated the safety and effectiveness of a vaccine candidate against prostate cancer, which was developed in eastern Camagüey province.
The certification was made by the Center for State Control of Medications and Equipment and Medical Devices of Cuba, after the completion of the second stage of clinical trials.
The vaccine, called Heberprovac, suppresses the production of testosterone and was obtained by experts at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB) in Camagüey.
After being administered to 50 patients during the clinical trials, experts observed a reduction of malignant cells and the urinary obstructive symptoms that characterize the disease.
Heberprovac reduces the levels of male hormone, thus contributing to reduce the value of the Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA).
