Monday, January 26, 2015

Havana.- The central Cuban province of Cienfuegos stands out for the number of organ transplants performed in 2014, when it led that activity in the country.

According to experts, 18 kidney transplants were made last year, in addition to three liver transplants in children in the country and there was an increase in donations of corneas and bone tissue.

In addition, achievements have been made in the case of live donors, including spouses and close relatives.

Organ transplants in Cuba, as well as all medical services, are free of charge.

Cienfuegos has been certified to participate in transplant operations in the rest of the country, with a team of surgeons from the Gustavo Aldereguía Provincial Hospital.
