Cuba's Power Generation Capacity Increases
Monday, February 23, 2015

Havana.- Eastern Cuba will benefit from an increased capacity in power generation, after the inauguration of a diesel plant in Moa, in Holguín province.

The plant, built at a cost of nearly 300 million pesos, has already supplied more than 84,000 megawatts/hours since it started up operations.

The facility is equipped with ten German-made engines that can generate a total of 184 megawatts at full capacity.

Built in a region of high electrical consumption, the new plant will provide a more reliable and efficient service to both the nickel industry and the residential sector.

At the same time, a modern electrical substation started up operations to replace two old facilities, thus guaranteeing power services.
