Havana to Host Fencing Grand Prix

Havana.- The Cuban capital will host a new edition of the Villa de La Habana Fencing Grand Prix in March, at which male and female foil fencers will compete.

According to organizers, Italian fencers Arianna Errigo, who holds the first place in the world ranking, Valentina Vezzali (second) and Elisa Di Francisca (third) are expected to participate in the tournament.

Vezzalli has won nine Olympic medals, including six titles, between Atlanta-1996 and London 2012.

Other foreign participants include Lee Kieffer, from the United States and fourth in the world ranking, Inés Boubakri, from Tunisia (sixth) and Hee Sook Jeon, from South Korea (eighth), among others.

Among the male participants are Race Imboden, from the United States, winner of the title in 2013 and fourth place in the world ranking, and Gerek Meinhardt (fifth), James-Andrew Davis, from the United Kingdom (sixth) and Alexander Choupenicht, from the Czech Republic (seventh).
