Havana.- The Symphonic Orchestra of Minnesota (United States) will perform in Cuba in May to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

The orchestra, which plays classical music by world-renowned composers, will give two concerts at Havana's National Theater under the musical direction of Osmo Vanska.

According to organizers, the orchestra will have Cuban pianist Frank Fernández and the choirs Nacional de Cuba and Cámara Vocal Leo as guests.

The first day's program will be dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven, with Overture Egmont, Symphony No. 3 and Choral Fantasy.

On the second day, the orchestra will play a "danzón" (Cuban national dance) by Cuban composer Alejandro García, in addition to the Symphonic Dances of West Side Story, by US composer Leonard Bernstein, and the Suite of Romeo and Juliet, by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev.
