Cuban Power Sector Benefits from Investments

Havana.- Unión Eléctrica de Cuba plans to execute new investments in 2015 worth 645 million pesos to build six substations in several regions of the country.

In addition, the company will undertake actions in Varadero, Cayo Santa María, Cayo Romano, Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo to support the tourist sector directly.

By the end of 2014, the company had fulfilled 96.8 percent of its investment plan, with more than 430 million pesos allocated to several projects.

In addition, in 2014, the company undertook 5,583 actions in the national power grid, including replacing 21,727 posts and installing 653.5 kilometers of power lines.

For its operations, Unión Eléctrica de Cuba employs 50,061 workers in 42 organizations, including seven power plants, 16 electric enterprises and 19 national companies.
