Computer Sciences Benefit Cuba's Healthcare Sector
Monday, April 20, 2015

Havana.- Cuban experts designed a computer program for cognitive evaluation and rehabilitation for patients suffering from multiple sclerosis.

The software was made by researchers from the University of Medical Sciences of Sancti Spíritus to contribute to the rehabilitation of patients suffering from that disease of the nervous system that affects the brain and the spinal cord.

The program allows retraining executive functions such as creativity, selective attention, concentration and operative memory in multiple sclerosis patients.

The technological tool includes cognitive activities with several levels of complexity, visual and hearing stimuli and tasks to reinforce the patient's neuronal networks.

It facilitates rehabilitation in terms of memory loss and the recovery of speech, in addition to improving the quality of training, maintenance and recovery of the affected functions.
