Cuban Medical Professionals to Assist People in Nepal

Havana.- Cuba sent a medical brigade to Nepal to assist the people after a strong earthquake that devastated large regions in that Asian country.

The 49-strong brigade consists of 25 physicians from different medical specialties, nurses and experts in hygiene and epidemiology, clinical laboratory, X-ray and ultrasound screening and physical therapy.

According to authorities, the group is the 41st brigade of the Henry Reeves International Contingent Specialized in Disasters and Epidemics.

The Cuban professionals will work in a campaign hospital that will have an operating room, sterilization department, intensive care unit, X-ray and ultrasound equipment, a semi-automated clinical laboratory and areas for consults and rehabilitation.

The Cuban contingent has already collaborated Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bolivia, Peru, Haiti, Mexico, China and Chile.
