Cuban Boxers to Compete in World Championship in Doha

Havana.- Cuba will compete with ten boxers in the World Championship in Doha, Qatar, in October.

The Cuban world champions Lázaro Alvarez (60 kilograms) and Julio César la Cruz (81 kg) head the Cuban delegation to the event, which will be attended by 43 competitors from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Boxers from Europe, Asia, North America, Africa and Oceania will take part in the championship, which will grand 23 slots for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.

Cuba will be represented by one boxer in all ten divisions, in addition to lightweight Yasniel Toledo, who won the silver medal in the latest world championship.

Other delegation members are Yosbany Veitía (52 kg), Roniel Iglesias (69), Leinier Peró (+91), Joahnys Argilagos (49), Andy Cruz (56), Arlen López (75) and Erislandy Savón (91).
