Havana.- The donation of organs and tissues in the Cuban health system is a key strategy to save the lives of people with severe illnesses.
According to experts, the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Hospital, in the city of Holguin, is one of the centers of the country where such procedures are performed.
Donations can benefit many people, considering that they include the transplant of organs such as kidneys, liver and corneas.
The donation of organs and tissues in Cuba can only be applied for the deceased due to brain death, which is irreversible.
This condition comes in completely healthy individuals, who unfortunately suffered an unexpected accident.
