Bellamar Tourist Complex Praised
Monday, November 30, 2015

Havana.- Bellamar Cave, in the western Cuban province of Matanzas, shines due to its oldest resort on the island condition.

According to experts, the cave was opened to the public for commercial purposes 153 years ago, precisely on November 22nd, 1862.

Bellamar has a studied length of over 20 km, with a traditional 1,500 meters route for tourists, which is covered in around 45 minutes.

Investigations set the age of the cave at 300,000 years and for several periods of study it has produced great paleontological findings.

Finally, the Bellamar Cave Guide, published in 1863, is considered the first tourist publication in the country, coupled with the fact that it came out in two languages.
