Havana.- The Cuban duo of Yanileidis Sanchez and Lidianny Echeverria ended second in the fourth stage of the North, Central American and Caribbean (NORCECA) volleyball beach circuit.
In the event, based in the Costa Rican beach resort of Tamarindo, the representatives of island lost the final against American couple Reves and McColloch, with a 0-2 marker (14-21 and 18-21).
Echeverria and Sanchez advanced to the discussion of the title, after defeating 2-1 (21-19, 21-23 and 15-10) hosts Charles-Alfaro in the semifinals.
The Cubans won their first two games of the preliminaries, sacking 2-0 (21-12 and 21-10) Wolfenden-Gandolfi (Cayman Islands) and Hondurans Hynds-Etches by the same route, but 21- 10 and 21-9.
The circuit’s tournaments provide NORCECA ranking points and a preparation for the Olympic qualifying tournament next June in Mexico, a qualifier for the Games in Rio de Janeiro.
