Cuba Excels in International Paralympic Swimming Event

Havana.- Cuba's Lorenzo Perez won the gold medal in the 100 meter freestyle swimming in Paralympics, at the CAIXA Lotteries meeting in Brazil.

Perez won with a time of 1: 05.12 minutes, quite close to its level of the orb of 1: 04.60, achieved at the end of the Para-Pan-American Games in Toronto-2015.

Furthermore, in the 50-meter freestyle he was second with 30.19 seconds, surpassed only by the Colombian Nelson Crispin that ended under 29.29 seconds.

According to experts, the Cuban swimmer -paraplegic- is in a position to fight for medals at the upcoming Paralympic Games in Brazil.

Cuba was also represented by Juan Castillo (third in 100-meter butterfly style and fourth in the 400-meter freestyle) and Yunerki Ortega (fourth in 200-meter medley).
