Cuba Seeks Olympic Quotas in Weightlifting
Monday, May 23, 2016

Havana.- The main figures of Cuban weightlifters will participate in the Pan American Championships in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), seeking Olympic qualification.

The island’s participants will compete for two places (one in each sex), after accumulating an insufficient amount of points in world cups Warsaw-2013, Almaty-2014 and Houston-2015.

Cuban experts on the island reported that at these events the country did not take full teams nor was among the first 24 nations.

Therefore, it only remaining option is to achieve the tickets at continental level, with teams of eight men and seven ladies at this event.

The main options are concentrated in Marina Rodriguez (63 kg), silver in Toronto-2015, the world multi medalists Yoelmis Hernandez (85) and Adriel la O (77), continental champion in Toronto.
