Cuba Is Ready for Vaccination Campaign against Influenza

Havana.- Cuba's health system straightens the last details for the implementation of an influenza vaccination campaign, in order to benefit some 680,000 people.

According to industry officials, immunization against seasonal influenza seeks to prevent serious complications in higher risk groups.

In that sense, adults 85 years and more, people institutionalized in nursing homes, grandparent’s homes and educational psychology centers are prioritized.

In addition, all pregnant women, asthmatics and diabetics aged from 18 to 24 years who have chronic renal failure, patients with cerebral palsy and cystic fibrosis older than 18 years.

The vaccine will be extended to poultry and livestock workers exposed to the risk of influenza, the care services for patients with severe acute respiratory infection and technical and professional personnel exposed during diagnosis.
