Charcoal Exports Gaining Ground in Matanzas
Monday, June 27, 2016

Havana.- The company Agroforestal Matanzas, in the Cuban province of the same name, has in charcoal one of its main exports.

According to directors of the company, from January to May 486 tons of the product were collected for marketing in the international market.

This volume enabled the company to gain 146,000 pesos in convertible currency.

The average monthly salary of those engaged in the manufacture of charcoal is around 3,000 pesos in national currency and 60 convertibles (CUC).

For every ton of coal for export, the Company Agroforestal Matanzas gets 305 convertible pesos in the international market and the country sells it at $ 340.

This year the target is to reach 800 tons, although there are conditions that could lead to exceed that figure with about 200 tons.
