Chemical Plant Active in Eastern Cuba
Monday, July 25, 2016

Havana.- Sulfuric acid plant in Moa, in eastern Cuba, began operating to meet the needs of the nickel industry in the country.

That facility is operating at 50 percent of installed capacity, as part of a process of starting to take her to full power before the end of 2016.

The plant is the main source of supply of sulfuric acid, vital raw material imported by Cuba for use in the extraction of nickel and cobalt.

Annexed to the Pedro Soto Alba, the facility's construction began in 2007 as part of the extensive investment program in the field of nickel in the municipality of Moa.

The project is entirely Cuban-made and was executed by specialists in different branches of construction, mechanical engineering and chemistry.
