Training of Paramedical Staff Progresses in Eastern Cuba
Monday, August 22, 2016

Havana.- The province of Santiago de Cuba, in the eastern part of the island, promotes the preparation of paramedics, able to react to natural disasters and accidents.

Also available is the Regional Ambulance Base, which has 25 vehicles to provide first aid, and staff trained in those functions.

A paramedic's comprehensive course was also provided and a second edition is expected in coming months to the health sector and other stakeholders.

The training program includes learning resuscitation, immobilization, bleeding control and hoe to correctly manipulate injured persons, among other related matters.

This training is especially important in the province, where there are frequent seismic events leading to the adoption of preventive mechanisms.
