Monday, September 19, 2016
Havana.- The National Museum of Fine Arts, of recognized fame on the island and abroad, hosts an exhibition of engravings by the painter Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640).
The exhibit, organized with the support of the Cultural Department of the Belgian city of Antwerp, includes a selection of 13 engravings of the artist, considered one of the leaders of the Flemish school.
Under the title of Rubens and Antwerp in black and white, it collects various reasons such as portraits, landscapes, mythological and religious scenes, among other topics developed by the creator.
It is noteworthy that Rubens himself supervised the making of the reproductions of his work, concerned about the significance of his creative spirit without underestimating engraving as a technique.
The exhibition adds up to the presentation of a catalog of Flemish and Belgian painting, which marks a new stage in the exchanges between the institution and the Association of Museums of Antwerp.
