Cuban Paralympics in the World Elite

Havana.- Cuba ended at position 18 by countries in the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, accumulating a total of 15 medals.

The sportspersons of the island contributed with eight titles, as well as a second place and six bronze medals.

Omara Durand was the most prominent, with three gold medals in 100, 200 and 400 meters, plus three of the world records and seven at Paralympic level.

In addition, Leinier Savon won two gold medals (100m and 200m), together with the titles of the judoka Dalidaivis Rodriguez, Ernesto Blanco in the oval lap and Lorenzo Perez in swimming.

According to specialists, Yunidis Castillo´s injury deprived the Cuban delegation of more gold medals, despite which a silver medal was won in the high jump competition.
