Havana.- The Cuban capital hosted this month an extensive program of activities in honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of writer and playwright William Shakespeare.

Therefore, the program collected works of world-renowned filmmakers, including Laurence Olivier, Orson Welles, Franco Zeffirelli, Roman Polanski, Grigori Kozintsev and Peter Greenaway.
According to experts, a film series that extends over a period of several decades brought the Cuban public numerous of the great works of Shakespeare.
The relationship included such classics as Hamlet (1948), The Tragedy of Othello: The Moor of Venice (1951), Romeo and Juliet (1968), The Tragedy of Macbeth (1971), King Lear (1970) and Prospero's Books (1991).
