Investments in Favor of the Cuban Railroad
Monday, December 5, 2016

Havana.- The railroad arrived at 179 years of operations, in an action that reminds the island as the first country in Latin America to have this service.

The Union of Railways of Cuba stressed that progress is being made in a Program of Capital Repairs of Railway Stations 2016-2021 for an estimated value of 40 million pesos.

Works include works such as the Central Station of Havana, which will have new rooms for travelers, coffee shops, shops, multipurpose areas and parking.

In addition, in two years the Santa Clara station should be completed, and in 2017, those of Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba, the Cienfuegos Maritime Terminal, and those of the towns of Piedrecita, Remedios and Ranchuelo.

It should be mentioned that the first railway section of Cuba, from Havana to Bejucal and with an extension of 27.3 kilometers, was completed and inaugurated in November 1837.
