Environmental Certification for Cuban Beaches
Monday, January 16, 2017

Havana.- Environmental certification characterizes Cuban beaches as an added value, in accordance with the sustainable development strategy of tourism.

In that sense, five hotels in the resort of Varadero already have this endorsement granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).

The facilities include Royalton Hicacos and Blau Varadero (Cubanacán), Iberostar Taínos and the Solymar-Arenas Blanca Hotel Complex (Gran Caribe), and the Iberostar Laguna Azul of the Gaviota Group.

This certification applies to the fronts of beaches of hotels and all public entities located on the coastline, as a mechanism that supports tourism.

Among the parameters to be evaluated are the use of the natural resource, infrastructure and services necessary for the use of the beach, bathing water quality, vegetation cover and shore geomorphology.
